Wicked Indeed!

Last Thursday we went up to LA to see Wicked, the musical prequel to the Wizard of Oz. What a fantastic show! We loved it. L. Frank Baum would be proud of his namesake, and Margaret Hamilton envious of her younger self.

The story is told from Elphaba’s point of view, revealing how she came to be the Wicked Witch of the West. The show is peppered with humor and innuendo, fitting seamlessly into the Oz mythology. The best song is “Defying Gravity,” a remarkable performance just before the intermission.

Our friend Jodi arranged for tickets at a group rate, for all of the Option One Associates and their friends/family. Of course that was months ago, before the lay-offs and re-org scattered us to the four corners of the earth. It was great to see everyone again.

We met up with Josh in West Hollywood and caravanned over to the Pantages. A portion of Sunset was shut down for some filming and the traffic sucked. I was convinced we wouldn’t make it in time. We got there in the nick of time, which is lucky -- the Pantages is a rather unforgiving theater. Once the curtain goes up, the doors close hard.

Highly recommended…
