We're so lucky to have such good friends. We woke up early(ish) on Saturday, piled into Anda's parents' van

and headed out together to Marlene's timeshare for a long awaited escape from the OC. Doug Dave was already there soaking up the sun. We had some time to kill while our room was getting ready, so we lounged like cats by the pool, basking in an oppressive 112 degree heat.

Seriously, the hot tub was cooler. I was devoid of energy. Thank god Marlene brought food (Good Job Marlene!)

The ancient Greeks spoke of time in two ways. There's,chronos, which refers to chronological or sequential time. Then there's, kairos which signifies "a time in between" - a moment of an undetermined period of time in which something special happens. It's experiential. Considering that we were in Palm Springs for barely more than a day, we packed in a lot of kairos.

After a beautiful sunset, we readied ourselves up for a semi-impromptu night on the town. Blame it On Midnight was our first stop. I always enjoy their food, and their dozens of almost-midnight clocks. By & large the food was fab - the crab cakes are definitely my favorite.

Chuck's dish went salty-sideways, but he muddled through all the same. Birthday cakes & candles surprised the two of us at the end.We planned on heading home, but made an unexpected jaunt to Hunters for a cocktail or two. The allure of dancing on the box captivated Michael and Anda and they were quickly absorbed by the swaying throngs.
We had the fun luck of running into Sue. That woman is a desert flower -she is just blossoming out there! Great to see her, and great to see her doing so well.We caught up a bit and I joined my hubby on the dance floor once Madonna came on. (What can I say ? she's a diva. I'd do it for Kylie too.)
An hour later were back at the timeshare kicking back for another day of the same.
Relaxing is such hard work?

Can you believe it? No matter where we go, there we are. The surroundings or location do not matter with this crowd. Every day is a fantastic day when we are together.
