Dear friends,
After three months in Colombia, three months in Ohio, a cross-country US trip by car, and trips to San Francisco, Asia Minor and Formosa, we are back in Southern California. We rented the house in Irvine and moved into a beautiful Italian resort, Villa Siena, in Southern California. We realized that our home is where our heart is.
And I asked God...? What is love? And He responded: Love is in your heart. My husband Alvaro suffered a massive heart attack on December 3rd while I was away in Taiwan receiving an award from the World Academy of Arts and Culture for Poetry excellence.
Fortunately our daughter Claudia was with him at a Christmas celebration and rushed him to emergency at 11 pm. He had a blockage of his left side arteries at 90% and his left at 80%. He spent four days in Intensive Care and four more days hospitalized. His kidneys and lungs had complications and being a diabetic make his condition more delicate.
Our other daughter Lucia Carolina flew-in from Ohio during this trial. The girls picked me up from the airport; I went directly to the Hospital and slept at his side in a little sofa. I gave him the Gold Medal in his bed and we all saw an incredible light in his eyes, he wept.
Right now we are in the process of getting him back on his feet, buying his medications, visiting several specialist and learning how to eat in small portions. It is a challenge for all in the family an a blessing to have him alive.
Our grandchildren and family from Ohio arrived to spend the Christmas holidays with us. They rented a motor home and took my husband and I for two days to San Diego to visit relatives, and then they all continued to the Grand Canyon with the rest of the family. Alvaro won't be able to ride too far and has to be close to a hospital for an emergency or fly for at least six months.
It is a miracle he is surviving and the love of the family is sustaining us. As my poem "God is the Source of All" says: In every loss there is a gain and this event is making us stronger.
What is our greatest Gift for 2011? God extended his life so we all can enjoy his tenderness and kindness.
Our warmest wishes to all!
With Light and Peace,
Lucia
