Hello Friends,
Just wanted to let you guys know that I had rather serious accident last Friday night in which I rolled my Mountaineer “Foxy Cleopatra”. I spent all night at the UC-Davis Medical Center Trauma Unit—x-rays, CT scans, etc. Thank God and my angels for getting me out of it with relatively minor injuries. Facial lacerations, scrapes, head bumps, bruises, a strained shoulder, bruised ribs, an irritated eye, a bruised liver and a concussion are pretty much the extent of it. I am very sore all over and probably will be for a couple of weeks more. Air bags and seatbelts really work, folks. To my knowledge, there was no one else involved; however, I still have no recollection of how I lost control of the vehicle or of the accident itself, probably due to the concussion or post-traumatic stress. One minute I was cruising along on the freeway, the next thing I know I’m kicking the door open to get out. Thankfully, I was able to walk, because the vehicle was upright and facing in the right direction, but sticking way out into the fast lane. It was dark, my SUV is black, and of course none of my lights worked. There were cars flying by and swerving so as not to hit me. I just got as far away from the car as I could until the ambulance came to take me away… It can happen in the blink of an eye!
On Tuesday I went to the wrecking yard to say goodbye to Foxy, clean out my personal stuff and release her to the insurance company. There wasn’t much to retrieve as most of it (including my cell phone—bummer!) apparently flew out during the rollover, and is probably strewn alongside the freeway. What’s most important though, is that I am incredibly blessed to have survived in one piece!- Matt

An accident not quite as bad broke my mom's neck. (She's OK now). Methinks you have just spent several of your nine lives. We are so happy you are in one piece.
